Vishal Bhardwaj has come up with his new project PATAKHA, starring Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan. The movie is full of funny elements and a warring relationship between two sisters that leads to several confusions in the movie. Sanya Malhotra has earlier worked in Amir khan starrer Dangal and this is the second time when we will see her in totally different avatar.

Dangal was a story of a national wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita. Sanya Malhotra played the role of Babita in Dangal and being a wrestler, she was tough and strong. Even in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Patkha, Sanya is seen in rough and tough role of a school going girl.

Patakha is based on an anecdote named ‘DO BEHNE’ written by Charan Singh Pathik. Meri Ashiqui fame Radhika Madan is also making her bedut in Bollywood industry with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Patakha. She is a Television star, started her career with Ekta Kapoor’s Meri Aashiqui. She has also worked in a dance reality show named Jhalak reloaded on Colors Channel. Patakha is produced by Vishal Bhardwaj, Rekha Bhardwaj, and Dheeraj Wadhwan, Ajay Kapoor, and Ishan Saksena. The movie isset to hit the screens on 28 September 2018.

Recently, the trailer of the movie is released, and it is hell lot of a tough fight between two sisters, Radhika Madan as Champa Kumari, the elder sister and Sanya Malhotra as Genda Kumari, the younger sister, both are proving themselves as the best fit for the movie. Sunil Grover and Vijay Raaz are also part of the movie. Sunil Grover is playing the role of a young man who instigates the fight between Champa and Genda Kumari for having fun. Whereas, Vijay Raaz is the father of Champa and Genda who is seen fed up with both of his daughters and their fights.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s Patakha has been set up against the backdrop of Rajasthan village and to understand the real Rajasthan dialect and culture, Sanya and Radhika went on to a lot of hard work. Initially they stayed at various villages in Rajasthan to understand the real essence of Rajasthan’s rustic life. They stayed at Ronsi village near Jaipur. Some parts of the movie have also been shot at Mount Abu. Vishal is always known for directing movies mostly inspired from real life incidents or based on a popular book. Vishal has earlier directed movies like Haider based on William Shakespear’s Hamlet and Kaminey, both with offbeat stories.

One of the best directors of Bollywood industry Anurag Kashyap, known for his Gangs of Wasseypur, when watched the trailer of Patakha, posted on his Twitter account:

“Sir ji @VishalBhardwajaap ho kya..kaunmittikebaney ho ..yehkyaBawalbanayahai … @sanyamalhotra07@radhikamadan01

Earlier, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Films has Tweeted about the movie saying:

In the initial stage, Vishal decided to name the movie as ‘Churriyan’, but then he changed his mind by saying that it might confuse the audience and finally the movie was named as ‘Patakha’. As the movie is set against the Rajasthani backdrop, so, it was necessary for Sanya and Radhika to bring the real Rajasthan into the movie. The last schedule of the movie was shot at places like Jagdish Chowk, Sajjangarh, Saheliyonki Bari, and City Palace in Rajasthan.

The movie will cover the pre and post marriage sequences and as the body of women changes after post marriage so Sanya and Radhika also put on 10 kgs weight to look alike women after post marriage in villages. Sandhya has earlier worked in Dangal, so, it wouldn’t have taken much time for her to enrol herself into the rustic life of Rajasthan village. But still Radhika and Sanya learned the basic things that a village girl needs to do including activities like, how to keep water filled matkas on their head, milking buffaloes, making cow dungs, and how to manage daily chores of village life.
