Poetry and Songs are the most extraordinary things that have an amazing effect on our mind, body, and soul. Jagjit Singh’s ghazals are one such phenomenal and incredible rhythmic work that leaves a serene effect on our mind. Although, he is no more between us, but his melodious songs and ghazals still takes us into the lap of tranquillity. Shekhar Ravjiani, a very renowned singer in Bollywood industry is the student of Jagjit Singh and after his maestro left this world, he decided to give him a tribute through a musical event- HazaronkhwahishenAise.
This musical journey was first premiered at the Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore in 2016. The singer, composer, and songwriter Shekhar Ravjiani performed various ghazals and songs sung by Jagjit Singh. Some of the most hormonic songs of late Jagjit Singh are hoothon se chu lo tum, jhukijhukisinazar, tumkodekha to ye khyalaya, tum itna jo muskurarahe ho, and the list is endless.
The Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore is one of the renowned halls in the world, that is having various venues including, Theatre, Recital studio, Annexe studio, theatre studio, Rehearsal studio, hospitality spaces, outdoor spaces, and concert hall. Situated on the banks of Singapore river, this performing arts theatre was built in 1992 after Ong Teng Cheong, the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore proposed a theory about the status of performing arts in Singapore. He then proposed to have a concert hall that should be big enough to arrange a sitting capacity of at least 1600 people at one place. As this performing arts centre was built near the Esplanade park, so, it was named as The Esplanade Concert Hall.
In 2017, the HazaronKhwahishenAise event took place at CiputraArtpreneur Theatre in Jakarta, featuring Deepak pandit with Shekhar Ravjiani. One of the striking features of this event is that it includes artists who had performed with Jagjit Singh in their life. The event has also made its journey to some other parts of the world including, Indonesia and Malaysia. In India, this prestigious event took place this year in Jaipur Literature Festival. On 23rd September will roll down to Hong Kong for its further journey. Shekhar Tweeted about the event with a picture and captioned it:
“The journey continues… #HazaaronKhwahisheinAisi Celebrating the music of Shri Jagjit Singh In Hong Kong on the 23rd of September, 2018.”
