One of the biggest hit of 2018, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat has reached beyond everybody’s imagination.
The movie has so far received a bundle of appreciation from all over the world and is still receiving a great acknowledgement within the Bollywood, Tollywood, and Hollywood industry. The movie has brought name, fame, and acclaim to each and every person associated with the movie.
Recently organization set up by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting i.e. National Film Award has announced that Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh to be given Dadasaheb Phalke Award- India’s highest award in cinema. Shahid has played the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in Padmavat; He was the ruler of Mewar kingdom in Rajasthan. Shahid in a role of Maharawal Ratan Singh has totally justified with the role.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali portrayed the character of Maharawal Ratan Singh as the epitome of courage and the location of the movie also helped him a lot in featuring the character of Shahid Kapoor exactly as it was told in Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem ‘Padmavat’. Shahid in his statement said:
“I don’t think that I underplayed Maharawal Ratan Singh, I would say I played Maharawal Ratan Singh. This is the character that was meant to be subtle. Nobody overplayed or nobody underplayed – it was our characters and we did our job according to the briefs we were given. It is the people who are deciding. As an actor, I have come from Tommy Singh which is different to what I have done in Padmaavat”
The movie has also added incredible year in the life of Ranveer Singh, as he was also receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke excellence Award 2018 for portraying the merciless character of Alauddin Khilji in padmavat. By playing the role of Allauddin Khilji in Padmavat, Ranveer has set a bar for the villains of the Bollywood industry. The Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award committee wrote to Ranveer announcing his award:
“We take immense pleasure to inform you that you have been finalised for the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for the memorable role for the Padmaavat”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not just shown his excellence of portraying the characters in his film, in fact after directing Padmavat, he went onto another next level in sculpting the entire location of his film.
Most of the film was shot in Rajasthan and recreated Chittor Fort and its palace in Mumbai sets. The Chittor Fort is one of the largest forts in India and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in Chittorgarh town, the fort witnessed the torment of Alauddin Khilji as he defeated the then ruler Rana Ratan Singh.
