The movie has faced a lot of troubles after the production house of the movie KriRaj Entertainment filed a case against Abhishek Kapoor of delaying the film and misbehaving. The movie was earlier scheduled to be released on 5 September 2018 but due to a dispute between the director and production house, the movie got its another release date of 30 November 2018.

The movie is based on the flood disaster that hit Uttarakhand in 2013 and took a lot of lives. The movie is written by Abhishek Kapoor and Kanika Dhillon and edited by Chandan Arora and Nilesh Naik. As the movie is inspired by the true events of Uttarakhand flood disaster, so, the shooting location needs to be realistic. In this regard, director Abhishek Kapoor chose some of the beautiful locations of Uttarakhand. One of the alluring locations is Dehradun that has been choosing for ‘KEDARNATH’ According to a news published in India Today, Abhishek Kapoor said:

“Kedarnath is a love story that unfolds during the course of a pilgrimage. It’s important for me to look within and soak in the vast beauty of our country, culture, and stories. India is a treasure trove of spiritual experiences that I want to present to the audience. This is a story that the world would love to watch.”

According to the Times of India, the filmmakers are recreating the backdrop of Kedarnath flood disaster in Mumbai city to achieve the exact look of the 2013 calamity that shook the entire nation. It is quite obvious that you can’t shoot all the scenes in Kedarnath and that is why filmmakers decided to recreate sets in Mumbai. There are various underwater scenes that are been shot on the outskirts of Mumbai.

As, the movie is shot in one of the sensitive and dangerous locations of India, so the Police Jawans has been deployed while the shooting of the film.
